Dear Consortium partners,
We are pleased to announce that the Central Oregon Behavioral Health Consortium (COBHC) is now accepting Trainee applications for the 2022-2023 academic year. We encourage you to share this information, and the attached brochure, widely!
The consortium is a paid training and education program supported by collaborative members across Central Oregon. The consortium is tasked with supporting mental health providers at all stages of their training to become licensed. The COBHC also provides educational opportunities in the form of quarterly trainings for the greater mental health community of Central Oregon. Individuals who meet the below criteria are welcome to apply to the Central Oregon Behavioral Health Consortium immediately:
- CADC, Master of Counseling, and Master of Social Work Students completing their internship requirements who can commit roughly three hours a week to trainings.
- Associates who are completing their required supervised work experience prior to licensure in all the above clinical fields.
- Psychologists who are completing their residency or fellowship.

Where do I apply?
- The application can be found at COBHC.org under the “Services and Training” tab.
What is required for the application?
- Attestation to the time commitment of 3 hours of weekly engagement in training experiences through the COBHC as part of your field placement/training rotation.
- A cover letter with a brief statement of interest and illustration of your future plans as a clinician.
- Vitae or resume.
Will I get paid?
- Yes! A stipend will be provided monthly or quarterly basis by the COBHC with the following guidelines:
- Stipends are provided on a graduated scale to CADC’s and master’s level interns and trainees.
- Greater stipend amounts are provided to trainees at rural training sites, as well as training sites that provide at least 75% (or more) child and family services.
- NOTE- Board Certified Associates are considered full-time employees and will not receive a stipend but will have full access to training materials at no cost.
What will I be doing?
- Weekly didactic education: 1 hour of virtual or self-paced learning on topics relevant to the field of behavioral health.
- Weekly attendance at a Case Consultation and Journal Club experience (rotating each week).
- Quarterly full day trainings on therapeutic skills to deepen your knowledge and abilities. The anticipated line-up of training currently is:
- FALL #1: Multidisciplinary Approach to Treating Pain – 1-day training
- FALL #2: Cognitive Processing Therapy – 2-day training
- Winter: Current Standards on Motivational Interviewing – 1-day training
- Spring: Equity and Inclusion – Topic TBD – 1-day training
What about supervision?
- Most training sites will provide clinical supervision for trainees; however, some sites may require a supervisor from an outside agency to support your clinical training. If you have questions about supervision needs, please reach out to us by submitting a contact request on our website.
- The COBHC Training Committee will support trainee education and provide guidance to clinical supervisors to help you, the trainee, have a consistent and high-quality supervision experience, while also engaging in clinical practice.
